Masculinarium

Three men, three cans of beer and an internet cable. What might come of such a combination? Perhaps a late-night gaming session or an evening in front of the television – but none of that happens. Instead, the three men begin to engage with women's experiences, internet forums and the logic of advice columns.

A provocative idea gives rise to a blog with tips for women – written from a male perspective, at first arrogant, calculating and apparently knowing better.

But the deeper the characters delve into questions of relationships, expectations, body image, labels and wounds, the more their own perspective begins to tip. Irony turns into uncertainty, posing into a process of understanding. Masculinarium asks whether understanding and mutual support between women and men are possible – and what happens when traditional gender roles, power relations and social certainties begin to falter.
